It’s a new year, and the opportunity to start something fresh. In the photography business, it’s slower, and we just came out of the big rush that is the holiday season. Phew!
It’s 2010. Rather than having a new years resolution, or a bazillion of them, that I can’t keep, I figured a list of goals to achieve was a better solution for me. I’ve seen the 100 things to do before I die list, but that’s way more than I can even begin to think about doing. This year, I have to scale back a little in spending, but also have to grow my business. I swear, it’s become my life. But, some of these things will help me to achieve that little bit more of freedom in the years to come. So, I am looking more so at the bigger picture. I hope that I can do these things. I mean, it’s just 14 things. Right?
- Hire a part-time employee that can work as an office assistant
- Tackle my Polaroid project with my seniors (love my new Fuji Instax Mini)
- Install wood floors in the front studio room (okay, more like laminate, but it will look like wood)
- Shoot 10 weddings ONLY (I really don’t think I want to go over this amount for a long time per year)
- Take a REAL vacation – not work related – preferably out of the country but I’ll settle for another fun adventure, like a road trip
- Manage my accounting entries and reports daily & monthly (so this is more for my accountant I suppose)
- Develop a manageable work schedule and flow of tasks/procedures (I can’t believe I used to manage the ISO 9000 system at a company before and can’t keep this right)
- Learn to solder and make pretty jewelry!
- Purchase a new vehicle (most likely a pickup truck to haul my vintage chairs around)
- Meet five new amazing people to mentor (working on this fun project now)
- Do a t-shirt coffee table book of my friends with studio parties
- Have coffee with a friend at least once a week – doesn’t have to be the same friend!
- Take photos just because, just for me at least once a month
- Do a better job and eating healthier – choosing cage free animal products and locally grown produce
These are big things and I’m going to do all that I can to accomplish them.
A picture, because I hate posts without them:
