One of the things I’ve been working on is a PDF that goes out to my clients when they book a session with me. It’s the number one question I get, “What should we wear?”
The answer is easy – wear something that reflects your style and personality, but is comfortable. Look, let’s be honest, this isn’t a department store photography studio, where you set up in front of a cheesy backdrop and get blinded by a bright flash (okay, maybe if you’re doing the Lollipop Smiles photos with me it is).
So, as I’m gearing up my design of these handouts, I figured, I might use a blog post from time-to-time to give you suggestions on great clothing options. I myself am NOT a fashion maven. In fact, you’ll most likely find me in jeans and t-shirts; and I have been known to only buy the color black when it comes to dressier clothes. I don’t know why. But, these outfits and clothing pieces really stand out to me.
For E-sessions (and most any group sessions) you want to match, but not matchy matchy. I mean this in the way of colors that compliment each other. Maybe its spring and you might wear a fun pink while your future spouse opts for a complimenting bright green polo. Or something like that. I also always suggest that ladies wear tank tops so it’s easier to change tops or put on a jacket if there is no place to change. When in doubt, pack a trunk-load of clothes for your session. We’ll never use them all, but it is nice when I can see what you have and make suggestions – plus a few changes give you more options to choose from. Jeans are the easy way out – think outside of the box!
Here are some fun finds for E-sessions that you might like too!
