Day 2: Cooter, MO – Thanksgiving

I have a lot of photos from this day, but didn’t load them all to Flickr because I hate flooding it. But, I will be working on my personal gallery/website that will have all of my photos outside of my portrait work. Just gotta find that time to get that together.

Thanksgiving morning, I woke up early to take the dogs out and go venture out in the sunrise and fog around town. Caught some amazing light out there and the fog made it amazing to look at too.

Day 1: Cooter, MO Thanksgiving

We arrived in Cooter pretty easily. Not too bad of traffic. Daisy on the other hand was quite the nervous wreck. She didn’t want to lie down and actually rest. Jack did very well, and attempted to sleep a lot when he could with the occassional sitting up and checking things out from the window.

When we got there, it was also a chore getting Daisy to use the bathroom. The dog didn’t poop the entire trip. Insane. So, my first day there I took some amazing cotton pictures and pictures of my gram’s chilis and pepper plants that wiltered after the last frost they got. I’ll be sharing those with you. More coming tomorrow!

Going to Cooter

Tomorrow, we leave for Cooter, Missouri. Yes, that is the name of the town. If you’re wondering where it is:

It’s about 4 hours south of here, just before you get into Arkansas (and borders Tennessee as well). It’s country.

Cooter Population Sign

Yes, the population is just 451.

My grams lives here. My dad grew up here. We’re taking the dogs down for Thanksgiving at her home. I plan on using this time to take lots of photos of life and things around town. Other than the way my grams can drive me completely nuts, I do enjoy the fact that it’s a more simple way of life there. I just wonder if I’ll even have cell service. Might be good for me.

I’m sad though that I’ll miss the cotton in full bloom. When we were there last 4th of July, I shot it as it was starting to grow:

Cooter Cotton Fields

The cotton gin is just up the road from my grams’ house. I wonder if there will be remnants of it lying around I can use my macro lens on. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, we leave tomorrow morning and come back on Saturday. I hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving week!
