The Crazy Life

It’s been one of those weekends…on the go, lots.

I dropped Baby Mac off at the Apple store to find out it’s just the backlight out, not the video card. The beautiful thing is that I am getting it done, and the last job done will be REFUNDED! Sa-WEET! Gotta love the service from Apple. It is so worth it when you are debating over spending the extra money for their products. I think it will be ready on Monday since they had to order the part (a whole new monitor portion).

After that, I had dinner with the lovely Maura! We ate at JBucks in the lower level at the mall and drank wine, chatted and laughed. Love that girl! I didn’t take a good picture after looking at my camera, but here’s one she took with her cell. Hello evil, red eyes!

My hair really went flat. Ugh.

The next day, I attended a psychic party with Maura and it was a riot. The things this woman told me were pretty funny, and some hitting on the money. I won’t go into sharing them, but I know you have to go into these things laughing and knowing it’s really just entertainment. We have the power to make what happens to us happen just by staying on that thought pattern and positivity.

I also totally missed that there was a St. Louis photographer’s meetup and got the message about 30 minutes before it was starting. So, I drug my butt out to Schlafley’s Bottleworks for a bit. Raquita was there which was nice to see her again. I feel like I don’t get to see her enough. Making some new contacts and getting to know some other photographers is such a good thing for me. Hopefully can make me get out there and explore my city more. Here’s my daily photo from last night:

My point and shoot does a pretty okay job.

And, finally, today, I had lunch with one of my Twitter friends, Michele. I FINALLY went to the Royale down in south city and was excited to try something new. Love it. Loved the talk with Michele and getting to know her better. Plus, laughing at things like some guy’s plumber’s crack hanging out. She tried to get a picture but there was a pole in the way. I love that my friends are goofy and immature like me. ;) Outside, I snapped a shot of their sign with the famous Obama paintings on the side of the building. That Powershot rocks!

I’m pretty much exhausted now. I keep telling myself I need to get on these last session edits, but think I need to just slow down tonight. Yeah, gonna try that. Unless my ADHD kicks in and I can’t focus on relaxing. Yeah, I have to focus to relax.

Random Blabber

Well, here’s a nice, long Sunday blog post for you. Hope you can keep your eyes open long enough.

It was a pretty hectic day on Friday as we finished up the final details on decorating the house. I ended up going with a costume that was just the bathrobe and curlers for my hair. No, no pictures. Sorry. But, I have a little video. It’s 4 minutes long, and just goes through all the outside decor. I took it before it go too dark so you could actually see things. Trust me, in the dark it was so much better.

And, shots from the night too:

There are more photos on my Flickr stream by clicking here.

Jack and Daisy even let me dress them up for a few short minutes!

My lil devil and angel! :)

I’ve had a cold, unsure how I got it, but am still holding true to my theory that I always get sick after photographing kids (or was around my young cousins at family gatherings). I just have no immune system it seems when they are in my presence. I’m not exactly miserable, which is good. Nyquil makes for awesome sleeps.

Yesterday was also an important day for my family. November 1st, my father passed away 15 years ago. I celebrate his life because you can tell I was his child. Determined, no patience and into gadgets and technology. I think he would be pretty impressed with the information age.

I didn’t do a lot yesterday. Relaxed quite a bit. However, my friends and I started up a little photo challenge called 100 Days of Moo (You). Meaning, we’re shooting ourselves in some fashion for 100 days and then will have them printed out on the 100 mini Moo cards to put into some sort of project. Anyone can join, but we’re really trying to challenge ourselves to actually keep this one up. I suck at these things and am trying. Here are my first two shots.

To join in, just click here and visit the group.

I’m also excited because Amy Kant has joined Pink Ink Studios and is creating amazingly awesome designs for photographers. You can visit her store here. I have other designers coming too! I think you’ll be in love if you’re a photographer!!!

We were going to do our family Christmas photos today, but Andrea’s sweet Larry is sick. Not well. We’re hoping things go okay for him. If you remember him, he’s the one with wheels!

Keep ‘em in your thoughts.

Now, I need to figure out what’s going on today. Like, resting and designing is in order, for sure!

The Playlist

I love Genius on iTunes. If you aren’t familiar, should find it and love it. Really. I have some awesome songs on my iTunes but often forget because there are so many. This sometimes lets me rediscover new ones.

This morning, I have the ultimate, amazing playlist that makes me just feel good. And, Merlin’s tribute video song popped up on it too. That makes me really smile.

The 36 Rules of Life

My mom sent me this yesterday and I don’t normally forward and share much of these things anymore, but I couldn’t resist this one. It will at least make you chuckle a bit.

The 36  Rules of Life:

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don’t worry about what people think, they don’t do it very often.

3. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

5. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you’ve never tried before.

6. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

7. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

8. A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

9. For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program.

10. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

11. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.

12. A conscience is what hurts when all of your other parts feel so good.

13. Eat well, stay fit, die anyway.

14. Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it.

15. No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.

16. A balanced diet is a muffin in each hand.

17. Middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places.

18. Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.

19. Junk is something you’ve kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it.

20. There is always one more imbecile than you counted on.

21. Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

22. By the time you can make ends meet, they move the ends.

23. Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.

24. Someone who thinks logically provides nice contrast to the real world.

25. It ain’t the jeans that make your butt look fat.

26. If you had to identify in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved its full potential, that word would be ‘meetings.’

27. There is a very fine line between ‘hobby’ and ‘mental illness.’

28. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with  them.

29. You should not confuse your career with your life.

30. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

31. Never lick a steak knife.

32. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

33. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylightsavings time.

34. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment

35. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that deep down inside we ALL believe we are good drivers.

36. Your friends love you anyway.

It was a good email for me to get. I can identify with 21. Sometimes, I just never learn. ;)

    I’m Back!

As I sit her uploading HUGE files, rasterizing artwork, and other catchup stuff, I figured I’d better say “hi”. I’m back in town! I created new business hours for myself - well, office hours. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I need some noromalcy in my life and with photography, it allows me to shoot mornings and evenings without being tied to the office during those times. When you own your own business, you realize quickly how things can get out of control and you’re soon working well over 80 hours a week. Not cool. I need my own time, it’s valuable and it’s time I did something about it.

Anyhoo - as I catch up on things, you can start watching my Flickr account here. I will soon be posting my daily journals about the amazing road trip I spent the past two weeks. If you are just now reading this, it was on Route 66, and then i-10 through Phoenix on the way home. A quick shot of “home” to me.
