For a few months, I’ve driven by this location and noticed the for lease signs in a few of the spaces. I kept talking about how it would be great because it’s simply just 3 minutes from my house. Really…3 MINUTES! No, the outside wasn’t too appealing. It is considered an office/warehouse space. But, the size, the layout, the location, perfect. Perfect for me. As winter is approaching I sorta knew that it wouldn’t be in my cards. Let’s face it, with winter comes a much more dead business when you’re mostly an on-location photographer. Outdoors = BRRRR!
Having my space that was sublet to me before allowed me to offer more indoor options and it’s given my business more credibility. I am so grateful for that. On a whim, I decided to contact the development company about the space I had seen and we quickly met to talk business. Seriously, in about a week, the wheels were in motion. Talking number, getting fire inspections, occupancy permits, just everything that goes into a commercial space all your own.
Now, I have the keys. I have at my fingertips, a near 1700 square-foot location all my own. I can’t be happier. I’m nervous though. It is getting colder, and outdoor business will begin slowing down. But, that won’t stop me because I plan to do more Lollipop Smiles, Boudoir Marathons, and Valentine’s Day specials during the cold, winter months. I have lots of space now. And, they painted it JUST what I wanted. I’m happy. Take a look!
I’m still only by appointment – so you have to call (314.315.6387) to set up appointments as I will be working from my home office until business picks up enough to justify spending more on utilities.
And, if you want to lend a hand in helping me get two heavy vintage sofas and a set of church doors out of the Westport location, down the elevator and into a truck, I’d be grateful! I kid…not really though – I’d love help!
