For anyone new here to my blog, or any part of my life, Cooter, Missouri is in the bootheel. It’s where my grandmother lives (as do other family) and it’s where my dad grew up and graduated high school. My grams (as I have always called her) has her home on the border of a cotton field. It’s the tiniest little town, but yet, quite quaint. The scenes you get to see and the landscape are so amazing.
Last year, I forced myself to get very early and catch the sunrises. I forced myself to go on drives to a small cemetery and to see what else I could find. My grams took me to other places that I was fearful I’d be shot if caught on their property. Everyone knows grams so I felt more safe with her.
We’re going back again this year. I’ll probably photograph the exact same things – just in different angles and perspectives. I want to see how things change. I know I could probably sell these prints to the locals, but the town isn’t very wealthy. I almost want to donate a few, but I don’t know where the town would put them. I’ll give them to my grams instead, most likely.

Life is definitely slower in Cooter, Missouri – but it will be a welcome relaxation.
