This starts back in June of this year. On the final day of my awesome guests being here for our Girl’s 80’s Weekend, the outlet that houses all the plugs for the TV, DVR, Wii, Bose, etc. – it went dead. Just out of the blue. Nothing I plugged in there worked. I attempted to try a new surge protector, anything to see if it was something other than just that outlet. What was totally odd was that it was just one outlet. Not the whole wall where the Fuse would go out.
So, because I had guests, and because I didn’t have time to figure it out, I just grabbed an extension cord and plugged into another outlet. Voila, we had TV again. Time passed and I never called an electrician. Mom thought she’d go out in the garage and see if maybe changing the fuse would work. But, we just let ourselves get busy. Never getting it fixed.
Then, last month, I thought, okay, before we go out into the garage to the fuse box, let’s try plugging things in again.
Imagine my surprise when everything WORKED!
I was totally baffled, no clue. How does that just happen? We sat there happy because we didn’t have to pay for an electrician, or make our way out in the crowded garage to the fuse box.
Fast forward to today, at lunch. I wanted to watch some DVR’d show at lunch. I realized it was kinda chilly in here, so I wanted to turn the ceiling fan off. I walked over to the switch on the wall that controls the fan.
Hey, did you know that the SAME switch also operates the outlet that the TV, DVR, Wii, Bose, etc. are all plugged into?
Yah. I now know how Clark Griswold felt when he finally got those lights to work on his house in Christmas Vacation because his wife figured out to flip the switch.
Sigh.
