Okay, I admit it, I LOVE LOVE LOVE shooting senior portraits. One of my favorite things to do. Why? Because, at that age, kids are so creative and want to show off their personalities. Breaking away from the traditional senior portraits is hard for some parents to let happen, but luckily, I have a studio where we can do some traditional headshot poses too. I like to think I can keep both the senior and the parents happy with incorporating a little bit of fun and wild with sweet and toned down.
A few weeks ago, I traveled to Springfield, Missouri to see my dear friends, Kristy and Tracy. Tracy lives there, and Kristy grew up there. She comes in town about once a year to see her family – she lives in Charlotte, NC. And, this year was a more specific trip because it was time to get her daughter, Jessie’s senior portraits done. What an honor to photograph for friends. Jessie is such a beautiful young lady and has a strong ambition for design. Very creative and very easy to work with. Can’t get much better than that. Because I was there for two days, I had a lot of photos to choose from. We shot in various locations which meant it was a little overwhelming to choose my favorites. So, I have broke her session down into two blog posts. See the next one on Monday.
Here are some of my favorites from the first part of her senior portrait session. Jessie, one word: GORGEOUS!

Tracy has this amazing field behind their home and her hubby was a trooper to bring out this gorgeous bench he made from an old bed. LOVE!

I did attempt to shoot outdoors with my Alien Bee at night. Not awful, but I’m really excited about learning more about One Light when I take Zack’s workshop in Atlanta in November.

The next morning, we did some traditional shots inside with studio set up.

Springfield has some amazing locations when you’re just driving around downtown. I love it there. See ya Monday with more from Jessie’s shoot!
