Well, here she is!
I’m a big believer in working hard to achieve your goals. You have to take baby steps to your big dream. My first baby step was starting my photography portrait business several years back. I had taken over the house with all my equipment and let’s face it, we just don’t have that kind of room here. Setting up my lighting and backdrops for the occasional headshot or Lollipop Smiles was not always convenient. The entire living room and dining room had to get an overhaul. Exhausting.
I mentioned my need at a family dinner one night and my friend has the perfect opportunity for me to take that next baby step. Subleasing a couple of offices from a suite at a reasonable price. This would allow me to grow my business even more. I know I’ve said it in the past, loans and borrowing money scares me. And, in our economical state, even more so. Finding retail or commercial space that is affordable in St. Louis is not easy. Now, I have a place where my clients can come and meet me. Ultimately, I’d love a big warehouse space so I can do bigger shoots indoors. My space now allows me to do headshots, Lollipop Smiles and the occasional little kid. My city does not allow me to run a portrait studio out of my house (you should check with your city before doing anything drastic like running a portrait business from you home, you’d be surprised what the laws are!).
Here, my clients can come in and view their slideshows and place their orders with me. It’s too overwhelming to leave a client with an online gallery sometimes. Coming into the studio, they can see samples. Biggest mistake is that clients order wall prints too small. We underestimate the sizes we need to fill up that wall space. I have large canvases in the studio that can give them a better vision in the end.
When you book a session with me, at your shoot, we schedule two weeks out for your preview session in the studio. This makes it more convenient and all your questions can be answered.
And, now, without further ado, my little space in Westport! My studio is only available by appointment only.

This is the smaller room where I can shoot headshots and things.

Here’s a shot of the meeting area.

One of my canvas walls. These are 12 x 12 prints – they make GREAT groupings!

I’m not sure why I chose green to start with…you would probably thought I’d go with Pink huh?

I think the only thing “new” I bought was the rug and the black chairs shown here. Everything else was either repurposed or vintage from antique stores.

I hope to get a little sofa table and still need to get my ottoman up here for book samples to be placed in.

Thanks for looking!!!
