I’ve been on a mission for my perfect album offerings for my client. I’m also of the mindset of sharing what I learn and know with the world…err, photographers that are intersested I suppose!
I’ve tested the books from White House Custom Color and even though the covers are really nice when you have an image imprinted on them, the inside guts are just not worthy of my photos. Maybe it’s a good way to bind 5 x 7 photos instead. I should probably give it another chance.
But, the one album I’ve been very anxious to receive was a Finao One album. I hear from so many photographers how hard and confusing their products seem. So, I’m going to share with you what I am doing to make it simple. I am sticking with the Finao One album. I offer up the different sizes and tell my clients to pick their size. Then, choose their cover. This is where I think it gets so confusing. There are a lot of options, and my suggestion is to just let your clients use their imagination, or make suggestions for them. Tell them they can combine this and that leather. Tell them, the Ice cover would look nice. Then, price it. Go from there. Make it simple and then work around their budget to either get it down to what they need or add on if that’s the case.
I also used Finao’s printing service on these. These are flush-mounted albums printed on Fuji paper and coated. The pages are a thick paper. I think 1/16th of an inch.
I even went so far as to modify their sellsheets with my pricing and some further information to make it easy to understand. It helped me get a grip on their offerings.
Below is a sample album I designed with one of the weddings I shot with Audra Little in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s an 8 x 10 book – though I think I’d go with 8 x 12 as a minimum size recommendation for weddings. It’s got a leather bind Accents style leather in Ipinema. And, to make it even more spectacular, I included the beautiful, Ice cover for the front – it’s a thick acrylic cover.
Needless to say, it’s one of my more expensive album offerings, but I love it!

Pretty, huh? Yeah, I like it. This book has 10 spreads and the price for the book as is for clients is: $913. If you have questions about these books or my experience, please ask in the blog comments and I’ll be sure to answer them and email you back.
Stay tuned for the next two album companies that I have samples coming from!!!
