great post - and you are SO right...it's not about WHO YOU ARE PERSONALLY voting for (though you and i have talked about this more than once...you SHOULD be able to post your thoughts and opinions on your own blog, but we know what that gets a lot of people) but that you are an INFORMED VOTER!

i too have been SHOCKED when i speak with people and they say things like, "oh, i vote for who every my husband tells me to vote for" or "i vote the party line" or "i DON'T vote!"

i've always believed that you don't have to agree w/me, or vote the same way (though that would be really nice and make my life easier if my candidate always won - lol!) but PLEASE BELIEVE in who YOU are voting for.

great list of resources - thanks again!

Awesome post, holly! I completely agree that people need to be educated and not vote, just to vote. (I sometimes believe it becomes a popularity contest and that is not how we should choose our President.) No, we can't know everything and the average American will never know what it really takes to be President. Best thing we can do is educate ourselves to understand the issues and candidates. :0)

You rock, my political soul sista ;)

What I'm tired of myself is the talking heads on all the so-called cable news stations telling people what they should think. So this time, I turned on CSPAN and watched the DNC coverage comment free. It was liberating I tell ya!! Not that I don't enjoy watching Chris Mathews loose it once in a while, or Obberman tell people to get a shovel, LOL, but I just needed to hear the speeches, what everyone was really saying. Shhh!! Don't tell anyone here in the liberal oasis of the San Fran Bay Area, but I might even watch the RNC on CSPAN too, maybe I'll learn some things that can help me understand "the other side".

Anyway, I commend you for your willingness to post on such a topic (it always draws me out of my lurk mode) and finally, I am more excited than ever for November!!!

Holly - I 100% echo the sentiments you wrote in your post. Its not just our right, but our responsibility to educate ourselves and vote. I've lived all over this world, and I've seen countries where people would literally die for the rights we often take for granted. It infuriates me when people are so cavalier as to say they won't be voting, or they simply vote down party lines without eduating themselves on the running candidate. With a brother in the military, I know how precious the gift of freedom is, and how important a role we as citizens play in its success.
Thanks for getting the word out!

Thanks for posting these- I took 3 of them and got a different canidate each time. One for Barr, One for McCain, One for Obama. I guess I'm pretty much a centralist. LOL
