SATC Party & Movie

Melody hosted a little pre-party for our SATC movie night and she really outdid herself! How cute huh? She had little table cards for each of the four girls on different tables, representing foods and drinks that each would have or bring. Loved that!

Don’t read further if you don’t want to be SPOILED!

Okay, now…my review! First off, seeing a crowded, sellout movie on opening night in a thunderstorm is not fun. Now, inside, not so bad. Outside – wet. I was soaked the entire time. BLEH. Made it uncomfortable. My socks were so cold and wet when I got home. Totally not fun. Sigh. BUT, when those opening credits came up and the music started I was in heaven. I know SATC is not an Oscar movie, but it’s about finishing the last chapter of the book for me.

I’ve followed the show from day one and there ya have it!

The cons – it seemed to drag a little towards the end. I guess because I’m so used to a 30 minute episode on a Sunday night. It just seemed to keep going and going so I think it was hard for me to grasp that much. Still loved seeing and hearing them.

My other con is that I was a little pissed at how Carrie took Big back at the end. I know it was a misunderstanding, but the asshole didn’t go in for the wedding. He ruined it. I was angry with Carrie. He’s always been that way…will probably always be that way. So, I guess for me, I’m just all about being stronger and independent and if you screw me over once then you are lucky to get a second chance…you’ll never get a third. Just me!

The clothes were typical a la Carrie. And, oh so a la not my taste. But, I wouldn’t expect anything less. However, I’d like to go to NYC and watch people for a few days – wonder if they really dress this way in real life. ALL THE TIME, not just randomly. I suppose there are.

The laughter was great. From Miranda’s unwaxed bikini line, to Charlotte shitting her pants. Hands down hilarious laughter.

The music was amazing. I purchased the soundtrack on iTunes. LOVE LOVE. Going to listen to it again in a minute! FYI – India Arie’s song is the best version!!!!

Was happy that Samantha realized NYC was more for her than L.A. and sad that she had to leave Smith at the same time. But, I think we can all admit we like her better as her old self.

And, I leave you with classic line: I CURSE THE DAY YOU WERE BORN!!!!

June 2, 2008 - 8:16 pm Tara - well this new yorker certainly doesn't dress like that!!! =)

June 2, 2008 - 8:24 pm robin - LOL my favorite line too! And no they don't all dress like that in NYC! :)

June 2, 2008 - 8:39 pm Melody - I was the opposite with the ending! I didn't want it to end :) but I also think it was appropriate they got back together because like Carrie said - they have done everything they could to screw things up, but if you think about it, when you really really love someone, you can't screw it up... you just understand what happened and love them anyway. It makes me think they HAVE to be together forever. you can't divorce someone after they left you at the altar and you still marry them. I feel the same way about Miranda and Steve - you know if they made it through Steve cheating - they will be together forever too.

June 2, 2008 - 9:00 pm Holly - I knew my city gals, Robin and Tara would chime in! I have to come to NYC and see you guys!

June 2, 2008 - 9:17 pm abunslife - So glad you got to go and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who didn't like her shoes! :)

June 2, 2008 - 9:42 pm Kristin Bratsch - Loved the whole movie!! Our theater hosted a red carpet party so we grabbed our cocktail dresses and headed off as we each portrayed a character. Had our pictures taken on the carpet and got cosmos upstairs. Of course then the movie finally started after the party and the damned thing broke!!! We got our money back for the whole event and braved the theater again on sunday, breaking out the cocktail dresses again and getting some pretty intersting looks. But we spent a lot of time and money getting dresses, jewelry etc and they just needed to be worn for the movie lol I think my favorite line was from Samantha:"Color? Well I can't color enough. I would color all day...everyday if I had my way I'd use every crayon in the box!"

June 3, 2008 - 7:42 am Tracyg - Believe it or not, they DO dress that way. it is amazing to see them.......when we were there everyone had on long nice coats, scarves, nice matcing bags, and ipods. Which amazes me that you would not want to have your "senses" about you in that city. We missed the true commuters since we were there on a holiday. But we DID comment on the fact that they are not dressed for comfort like we would. I guess when you have access that that kind of fashion, you take advantage. AND you don't have to pay for a car, insurance, gas, etc.

June 3, 2008 - 9:51 am Raquita - IT was a cool night - ironcially I don't htink I've watched more than a snipit of any show - let alone a whole epi of SATC. but it ws great to meet yo u- now I have write you an email about that wedding, it was bananas.

June 4, 2008 - 10:12 pm Amy - I laughed so hard I cried when charlotte shat her pants... HILARIOUS I also liked the "mexicoma" line. ;)
