Wacom Woes

Before I go to bed I figured I’d better blog about my woes today. My Wacom tablet hates me. It just cannot select properly and no matter what I do - reinstall the software, change settings, nothing - it just won’t function properly. I can’t afford a really nice one since I just received my two new lenses. So, I am hoping to find a Bamboo which is at about $100. Off to the Apple store tomorrow. This put a huge damper on my day - I didn’t get to finish the things I wanted to. Joy.

My Monday/Tuesday wasn’t productive. Not to mention tornado sirens.

Peace Out

Happy Wet Memorial Weekend

Hmmm…the weathermen in St. Louis got it SERIOUSLY wrong this weekend. They showed us the map with a jet stream going up and around us in St. Louis. Nope, both yesterday and today have been wet. In fact, I woke up this morning to frantic dogs because I swear to god lightening hit SOMETHING in the near vicinity. I too was up then. It cleared up a little this evening only to be starting it again a few minutes ago. Wonder what the excuse is for flubbing this up. I hear some people don’t even have power and for some cable has been out. I suppose we got lucky.

I am all too familiar with power loss - we’re talking multiple days in a row in the hot summer. NOT fun at all! Don’t wish that on anyone. I always say I’m going to buy a generator and still haven’t. I’ll probably have to experience a long power failure again before I get off my ass and actually do that.

Yesterday, we babysit Anna while their family attended another one on their side’s wedding. She is a hoot. I can remember a year ago when the child would scream bloody murder if anyone other than her immediate family came near her. Hours of constant crying and sobbing. Now, she’s much more interactive.

She enjoyed playing the Wii - though I know she had NO clue what she was doing. It took me 20 minutes how to figure out how their setup was on their tv. No one’s tvs are ever the same. Then, she sung herself to sleep. Once in a while, we’d hear “ALRIGHT!” like she was cheering on her favorite ball player.

Today, we painted the door that leads to the garage in the kitchen with blackboard paint. It’s sooo cool - but I haven’t bought any chalk yet. So, I guess I’m lying saying that it’s cool just yet. And, the beadboard was hung in the dining room. We always do little things at a time around here. My room has been on hold slightly till that gets done. I’m going to have to sleep in the den for a few days while furniture gets moved out and the floor is finished and airs out.

That’s been our weekend - today is Andrea’s birthday. She’s finally 20. Tomorrow they are coming over for lasagna.

At these gas prices, we opted to not go to the Gypsy Caravan tomorrow. Will probably go Michaels and Joanns if they are open. I bought Daisy a cute little patriotic dress but they had nothing to match for Jack so I’ll be snagging him a little kerchief for his neck.

Have a good Memorial Day tomorrow!

Loving This Lighting Stuff

I’m lucky to be part of a beta test for some new actions that really enhance ringflash images - especially the fun headshots I have been doing. Not sure when they will be available but without talking to the developer for more specific instructions this is what I played with last night. For the record this is a shot I took when I first got my ringflash and I had ZERO makeup on and my hair was ratty/messy. But, look how fun it can potentially be!

I’m hoping some local St. Louis folks would want to host a few parties for me with their friends so we can get more like this and really I can offer this up for parties and the like.

The Faces of Sarah - FUNNY

I wrapped up editing the blue background photos from Sarahs’ session. I think I need to market this more and do it for realz…it is so creative, fun, and “me”.

I Could Do This All Day!

I am a sucker for ringflash. I completely forgot to take a shot of my setup for those that had inquired in the past…I put it all away too! GAH! But, it’s not that hard. I have two softboxes on both sides of the subject facing them pretty close. An Alien Bee flashing up on the backdrop and a Zeus Ringflash with my camera in the middle on a tripod directly in front. Lights are synced up and my drops are just taped to the wall (I would do a stand in a normal setting but I needed more space today). It’s all in a tight little group.

Sarah is a family friend that came by today to have some done. I have a couple hundred awesome shots with the blue Savage backdrop and a few wrapping paper sheets on foam core. You would seriously laugh at my setup! LOL These are fun.

I could do these shots all day long! FUN TIMES! Making faces is NOT optional, but required!
