Jerome, Arizona

So, I’ve opted to edit my images from Arizona in blocks. Maybe it will be more doable even though my workload seems to be getting bigger. That’s what late nights and coffee is for, eh?

Anyhoo – we went out to St. Charles to see my gramps and had dinner with him in their dining room. They have good food there. Then, we went back to his apartment and watched the Fresh Water portion of Planet Earth. That’s some amazing stuff for sure! The beauty of this world – someone want to pay me to travel it?

Came home – downloaded the latest David Cook from iTunes (yes, I currently have all of his songs, a thank ya very much). Then, edited the images I took while in Jerome. I don’t have them all posted but here they go!

Taken with the 70-200 while we stopped in the middle of the road. This town is built up on the side of this mountain, WAY up.

We parked next to this beautiful church – though I fell in love with a lot of the Spanish style while in Arizona.

After that, I popped my wide angle on and used it the entire time. We’re talking lots of hills and tight spots so it was for the better.

It’s quite wacky there. I think we read that back in its Hey Day, there were something like 30-something bars and a few dozen brothels – the towns people thought it was a fair ratio of those things. LOL

It wouldn’t appear that an engineer even approved any of these structures – making them way cool.

Not your typical Post Office.

The rest of these photos are of a historical location they have gated up. Down below you can throw money into a toilet/outhouse. I think they are trying to raise money to help preserve Jerome.

Being a Kappa, I’m partial to fleur de lis.

Junk everywhere.

I think I’d like to start photographing street signs with bumper stickers on them.

Breathtaking skyline for sure.

Enjoyed this short visit to Jerome – thanks for taking me there, Audra!

June 17, 2008 - 11:23 pm danni perez - wow, my grandfather lived in jerome as a child. he is now deceased. this was way way back. we went to visit when i was a child {about 20 years ago}.he told us that the poorer you were the higher you lived. his house was still there back then but it had fallen to the ground. it is now gone. it was so amazing. don't you just love the how the streets just go up the mountain? such a cool little "ghost" town. i would love to take my kids there to show them how they lived. ~danni
